Privacy Coalition

In 2001 CPSR joined The Privacy Coalition in recognition of the value of, and need to protect freedoms guranteed by the 4th Amendment and safeguard the rights of Americans in the information age.
The Privacy Coalition is a nonpartisan coalition of consumer, civil liberties, educational, family, library, labor, and technology organizations that have agreed to the Privacy Pledge.The organization was created in February 2001.  In 2003 The Privacy Coalition sent a letter to congress proposing a framework for spam legislation.  Recognizing that Privacy is a major social issue of the information society.  The Privacy Coalition is made up of over 30 diverse member organizations brought together by the need to protect the privacy rights of individuals.

Why did you join CPSR?

CPSR seems to be the more important association for me - certainly it concentrates more on the issues that matter to me than the mainstream professional bodies
