Patriot Act Vote Nov 17

Calls to Congress Are Urgently Needed TODAY: White House tries to derail bipartisan negotiations on Patriot Act

A final vote is expected in the House and Senate THIS WEEK. It is critical that you call your Members of Congress as soon as you can.  Take action now and and tell them to vote NO on the Patriot Act reauthorization bill. The new legislation will greatly expand the scope of government powers far beyond that of the original act.  Sunset periods that would end the more aggregious of these powers have been lengthed from four years to seven years or omitted all together and most troubling is the fact that some senators, believing that no one will vote against the act, have been adding unpopular provisions that would have no chance of passing congress if presented alone.

For more information check out the ACLU's page  or the EFF page and follow the links to contact your Member of congress now and see what else you can do to help.
