Here's an example of what I mean by overhyped.

These data are from Industry Canada, the Canadian equivalent of the Federal Trade Commission. They studied a large number of mass-marketed software products and discovered that the publishers made erroneous claims about 65% of them.

The study's phrase "potentially false or misleading" is a buzz-phrase referring to statutory language. In context, it means, "potentially prosecutable."
