The Eighth Participatory Design Conference

The PDC04 welcomes scholars, researchers, students, practitioners and enthusiasts from around the world. Registration is open. You do not need to be a member of the Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility (CPSR) to participate.

The conference proper opens at 9AM Thursday July 29, and ends at 4PM on Saturday July 31.

On-line registration closes on July 20. Registration begins again on-site with the pre-conference events July 27.

Conference registration does not include pre-conference events (doctoral consortium, workshops, tutorials) or the banquet, for which additional fees are required. See below.

Early registration closes midnight June 15; regular closes midnight July 20.

Students do not need to be CPSR members to enjoy the low student registration fee. However, students will need to present proof of student status when they pick up their registration material at the conference (student card, transcript, letter from a Prof, etc.).

CPSR members enjoy a discount on the regular registration fee. If you are not already a CPSR member, you might wish to take this opportunity to join. Membership fees are low. Combine CPSR membership with PDC04 registration, and save on the cost of conference registration alone. Go to CPSR [http://cpsr.org/]. Students do not need to become CPSR members in order to benefit from the student discount on the PDC registration fee. CPSR membership will provide no additional discount for students registering at the PDC.

Pre-Conference

Pre-conference events run through July 27 (tutorials) and July 28 (workshops), offering participants hands-on collaboration in small groups on focused topics. There is an additional fee for pre-conference events.

Tutorials

A separate cost is involved for tutorial registration. You do not need to be registered at the PDC04 to register for a tutorial. Tutorials run concurrently, all day on July 27. You will only be able to attend one. Participants may register on-site, but you are urged to register in advance, as space is limited. All tutorials are at the Bahen Centre. Rooms to be announced.

Workshops

You must be registered for PDC04 to register for a workshop. A separate cost is involved for workshop registration. Workshops run concurrently, all day on July 28. You will only be able to attend one. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to register for a workshop on site. You must register for both the conference and the workshop in advance. All workshops are at the Bahen Centre. Rooms to be announced.

Ordering Additional Proceedings

The Proceedings of PDC04 will be published in two volumes:

Volume I of the Proceedings will consist of the full research papers.
Volume II of the Proceedings will include all the other accepted contributions: short research papers, tutorial and workshop descriptions, etc.

All participants registered with the conference will receive one copy of each volume as part of their registration fee. You can purchase additional copies at the conference, or you may wish to pre-order copies to benefit from the discount (your order will be waiting for pick up at the conference). With your additional copy of either volume you get a mailing envelope so you can avoid the extra weight when returning home.
