Computers, the Workplace, and

Participatory Design

This resource page and the working group to which it corresponds comprise two broad groupings of issues:
Computers in the Workplace
Computers in the workplace covers a variety of issues including computer-based monitoring of workers, worker health and safety, worker privacy, and conditions of employment.
Participatory Design
Participatory Design is one name for an approach to technology design originating in Scandinavia that engages current and prospective technology users early and in a fundamental way in the technology's design and continuing redesign. CPSR has played an important role in furthering the Participatory Design movement in the United States through its sponsorship of the Participatory Design conferences since 1990. The most recent conference, the PDC'2002 conference was at Malmö University, Sweden on June 23-25, 2002. The previous conference, the PDC'2000 conference was held in New York City from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1, 2000.
