News Flash CPSR Appoints New Executive Director

CPSR News Volume 13, Number 3: Fall 1995

----------

CPSR is pleased to announce the appointment of Audrie Krause as the new Executive Director of CPSR beginning on October 2. Prior to coming to CPSR, Audrie was the Executive Director of TURN (Toward Utility Rate Normalization), a California consumer-advocacy organization dedicated to protecting consumer interests from attack by the utility companies. In her six years at TURN, Audrie was able to boost annual revenue by 168 percent and to double the size of the paid staff. She was also an effective spokesperson for TURN on many issues, including several that are critical to CPSR. In particular, Audrie worked together with CPSR members to oppose caller-ID in California.

Audrie was hired following a three-month national search that attracted 86 applicants, many of whom were extremely strong. After interviewing several candidates in an initial round and conducting second interviews with three finalists, the CPSR Board of Directors decided that Audrie's organizational, fundraising, and media outreach skills were just what CPSR needs to become a stronger and more effective organization. On behalf of the CPSR Board, I would like to welcome Audrie to the staff and look forward to an exciting and productive time ahead.
