CPSR's New Executive Director

CPSR News Volume 15, Number 2: Spring 1997

----------

CPSR President Aki Namioka announced the appointment of Duff Axsom as Executive Director. Duff is a long-time advocate for innovative and responsible uses of technology in social services and education. Formerly Director of Community Strategies 2000, he developed the award-winning GroupLink telecommunications project for social support groups throughout California. As Regional Coordinator of the California Self-Help Center, he implemented the first computer-accessed information and referral systems for community-based groups. He has provided program and organizational consultation to numerous CA nonprofits, as well as working in the private sector.

His focus in the early months will be on developing communications with the CPSR members; increased support and awareness for CPSR's programs; and in securing the organization's financial and operational base.

Duff is a California native and long-time resident of San Francisco. He has served in many community-based organizations and nonprofit boards.

He will be based at the National CPSR office in Palo Alto, CA. Duff can be reached at 415-322-3778 or at duff@cpsr.org.
