Hotels for CPSR 2001 Annual Conference

We have arranged for blocks of rooms in three hotels located on State Stree on the South side, near I-94. Check out the map. These rooms are substantially cheaper than the few choices downtown, but have the drawback that you'll need to figure out how to get the 3 miles to central campus. See the section on Ann Arbor for your options.

State Street Hotels

  • Red Roof Inn, 3505 S State
    • Total cost $63.17, including taxes
    • Mention code B564CONF
    • Call 1-800-REDROOF
    • Deadline 9/28/2001
    • Located east side of State Street, corner of State St and Victors Way
    • Includes continental breakfast
    • City bus 2-3 blocks away
    • Taxi ride will cost approximately $8 to campus
    • Several food places within a 4 block area of the hotel

  • Hampton Inn, 925 Victors Way

    • Includes continental breakfast
    • Has jaccuzzi and pool available
    • Has exercise room available
    • City bus 3-4 blocks away
    • Taxi ride will cost approximately $8 to campus
    • Several food places within a 5 block area of the hotel

  • Holiday Inn, 600 Hilton Blvd
    • Total cost $96.12, including taxes
    • Mention code CPSR
    • Call 1-800-HOLIDAYS
    • Deadline 9/18/2001
    • Located on the west side of State Street, very near Briadwood Mall.
    • Includes continental breakfast
    • Has jaccuzzi and pool available
    • Has exercise room available
    • City bus stops at Briarwood Mall, but this will take you downtown to the Blake terminal. You will have a 5 block walk to the conference site at this point. Because of this, I would not recommend the HI unless you already have a car and plan to drive downtown.
    • Taxi ride will cost approximately $8-10 to campus
    • Several food places within a 3 block area of the hotel

Downtown Hotels/B and Bs

There are a relative few places to stay downtown and you will find these generally somewhat more expensive. However, you can't beat the location. None of the following are more than a couple of blocks from the conference site. There are no rooms blocked at these places, so you may not find anything open. But they are very convenient. In no particular order...

  • The Michigan League, right on campus
    • Cost approximately $105 + taxes
    • Phone: (734) 764-3177
    • All rooms are blocked until 9/19/2001. Any rooms that are not taken will be released at that point.

  • The Artful Lodger, B and B on Washtenaw, near campus
    • Cost approximately $90-110 + taxes
    • Phone: (734) 769-0653
    • In early August they had 3 rooms available.

  • The B and B on Campus, B and B on Washtenaw, near campus
    • Cost approximately $80-100 + taxes
    • Phone: (734) 994-9100
    • They typically rent longer term, but 1-2 weeks before the conference they will rent anything available for the weekend. In early August they had 6 rooms available.

  • Vitosha Guest Hause, B and B on Washtenaw, 5 blocks from campus
    • Cost approximately $150-200 + taxes
    • Phone: (734) 741-4969
    • In early August they had 8 rooms available.
    • A converted church. Reportedly very nice digs.

  • Bell Tower Hotel, 300 S. Thayer St, virtually on campus
    • Unknown, but expect about $150 + taxes
    • Phone: 800-562-3559
    • As convenient as you can get.

  • Campus Inn, 615 E. Huron St, 1 block from campus
    • Unknown, but expect about $150 + taxes
    • Phone: 800-666-8693
    • Also very convenient.

This has been a selected list. If you want to investigate this further, check out this list of accomodations.

Stay with a Michigan CPSR Member

Some people in the local chapter have offered to put people up (put up with people :-). If you'd like to take advantage of this, send Email to John and he will try to coordinate this. Maybe something will work out, for you and maybe not. Just in case, we suggest you reserve a hotel room and then cancel it if an alternative is found.
